I've spent two decades studying and protecting the Himalayan brown bear. My intimate knowledge of Deosai's wildlife makes every safari an unforgettable educational journey. When I was a boy in Astore, my father showed me my first bear tracks. He said, "These bears were here before us, and they'll be here after us if we protect them." That stuck with me. Now I know every bear by sight, every den location, every migration path. The bears trust me because I've never harmed them - not even when they raided our camp. They're not monsters, they're just trying to survive like us.

About This Experience

Journey to Deosai, one of the highest plateaus on Earth at 4,114 meters – a vast expanse of rolling grasslands that feels like another planet entirely. Known locally as "The Land of Giants," Deosai is home to the protected Himalayan brown bear, one of the world's rarest bear species.

Your safari begins with an early morning drive from Skardu, climbing through dramatic switchbacks until the landscape opens into the endless golden-green grasslands of Deosai. Your expert wildlife guide, trained through the Himalayan Wildlife Foundation, will track bear movements and help you observe these magnificent creatures from a safe, respectful distance.

Beyond bears, Deosai is a haven for wildlife: golden marmots, Tibetan wolves, snow leopards, and over 120 species of birds. The pristine Sheosar Lake, set against a backdrop of distant snow peaks, offers perfect picnic and photography spots.
