14 years guiding experience • Alpine ecology & botany

I learned about these plants from my mother. She was a healer - not a doctor, but she knew every plant, every root, every flower that could cure what ailed you. When I was sick as a child, she'd take me into these forests and show me which leaves to chew, which roots to boil. Now I do the same for visitors, but I also teach them why these plants matter. Why that flower only grows here. Why that tree has survived for 500 years. This valley taught me everything I know, and I want to pass that knowledge on before it's forgotten.

About This Experience

Discover why Naltar Valley is called the "Crown Jewel of Gilgit" – a hidden paradise where three alpine lakes shimmer in shades of green, blue, and orange depending on the time of day and season.

Your journey begins with a scenic drive through the Naltar Valley, one of Pakistan's premier ski destinations in winter. As you ascend, thick pine forests give way to alpine meadows exploding with wildflowers. The trail to the lakes is a moderate day hike, with your local guide sharing knowledge of medicinal plants and wildlife along the way.

Camp overnight at the lakeside to witness the magical color transformations at sunrise and sunset. The mineral content of each lake creates unique hues – from deep emerald to bright turquoise – creating a photographer's paradise.
